Search Chugach People Records

People search records for the Chugach Census Area are managed by courts in Valdez and Cordova, the Alaska State Troopers, and state agencies. Chugach was established in 2019 when the former Valdez-Cordova Census Area was split into two parts. The area covers Prince William Sound and the Copper River Basin. Two courts serve the region: the Valdez Court and the Cordova Court, both in the Third Judicial District. Cordova has no road access, so the court there runs on a circuit basis. State online tools like CourtView give you access to case records from anywhere, which matters for a region with limited road connections.

Two courts handle people search and court records in the Chugach Census Area. The Valdez Court is at 213 Meals Avenue, Valdez, AK 99686. It handles misdemeanor cases, civil cases up to $100,000, small claims up to $10,000, and preliminary hearings for felonies. The Cordova Court is at 500 Water Street, Cordova, AK 99574. The CourtView case search portal is the best way to search Chugach Census Area court records online. It is free. Search by party name, case number, or citation. Records go back to 1985 for most case types. Results show case status, docket entries, parties, and hearing dates. The tool does not display addresses or social security numbers. If a name search gives too many results, use the date range filter to narrow it down.

The E-Access system provides another way to look at the same court data. Both systems are free and need no account. Financial dockets on CourtView show bail amounts, fines, costs, and restitution. Sealed cases, juvenile records, adoptions, and mental health matters do not appear in either system. Records filed before 1990 may have gaps in the online data.

For criminal history, use the DPS online background check portal. Under AS 12.62.160, any person can get criminal history data on anyone. Name-based checks cost $20. Fingerprint checks cost $35.
